Leviticus 1:1-17
Offerings of herd:
- Must be a male without blemish.
- He that offers must offer at his own voluntary will at the door of the temple.
- Hand must be placed on the head of the burnt offering to make atonement; and it will be accepted.
- He must kill the bullock.
- The priest must take the blood from the offering and sprinkle the blood around the altar of burnt offerings.
- Priest must skin the bullock and cut the bullock into his pieces.
- Priest must put fire on the altar and lay the wood on the fire in order.
- Priest shall lay the head and the fat of the offering in order on the fire which is on the altar.
- The inwards and the legs of the offering must be washed in water.
- Priest must burn the inwards and the legs of the offering on the altar for a sweet savour to YHWH.
Offerings of flock:
- Must be a male without blemish.
- It must be killed on the north side of the altar of burnt offerings.
- Priest must sprinkle the blood around the altar.
- Priest must skin the sheep or goat and cut it into his pieces.
- Priest must put fire on the altar and lay the wood on the fire in order.
- Priest shall lay the head and the fat of the offering in order on the fire which is on the altar.
- The inwards and the legs of the offering must be washed in water.
- Priest must burn the inwards and the legs of the offering on the altar for a sweet savour to YHWH.
Offerings of fowls:
- Must offer a turtledove or young pigeon.
- Priest must take off the fowls head and burn it on the altar.
- Priest must drain all the blood of the fowl on the side of the altar.
- Crop (the birds digestive system which is a muscular pouch near the throat) and the feathers must be taken away.
- Priest must cast them beside the altar on the eastward side by the ashes.
- The wings must cleave to the fowl, it may not be cut in pieces.
- Priest must burn the fowl on the altar for a sweet savour to YHWH.
Burnt offering regulations:
- Priest must put on his linen garment and pants when offering.
- Take all the ashes from the burnt offering and put them on the side of the altar.
- Priest must take off his priestly garments and put on other clothing.
- Priest must carry the ashes out and cast them into a clean place.
- Fire on the altar must never be put out.
- Priest must burn wood on the fire of the altar of burnt offerings every morning.
- The priest that offers the fat of the burnt offering shall have the skin for himself.
