Trespass Offerings
Leviticus 5, 7
If a man sins by swearing falsely or touching anything unclean:
If the man is not able to bring a lamb he must bring two turtledoves or two pigeons
If he is unable to bring two turtledoves or two pigeons
If a man sins through ignorance concerning the holy things:
If a man sins unknowingly he is still guilty for his sin:
If a man lies or deceives his neighbor for his possessions:
Trespass offering regulations:
Leviticus 5, 7
If a man sins by swearing falsely or touching anything unclean:
- He that sinned must bring his trespass offering to YHWH.
- He must bring a female lamb or a kid goat for a trespass offering. (Apply steps for a sin offering)
If the man is not able to bring a lamb he must bring two turtledoves or two pigeons
- One for a burnt offering.
- One for a sin offering.
- Priest must offer the first fowl for a sin offering.
- Priest must take off the head of the fowl.
- Must not cut the bird in pieces.
- Priest must sprinkle the blood of the fowl on the side of the altar of burnt offerings.
- Pour the rest of the blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offerings; it is a sin offering.
- Priest must offer the second fowl for a burnt offering.
- Do according to the manner of a burnt offering for fowls. (See note for burnt offerings)
If he is unable to bring two turtledoves or two pigeons
- He who sinned must bring a tenth of a ephah of fine flour for a sin offering.
- No oil must be put upon it.
- No frankincense must be put on it.
- Priest must take a handful of the fine flour and burn it on the altar of burnt offerings, it is a sin offering.
- Priest shall make atonement for his sin.
- The rest of the offering is for the priest for a meat offering.
If a man sins through ignorance concerning the holy things:
- He must offer a ram without blemish
- He must also pay a fine by shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.
- He that sinned must make amends for his harm concerning the holy thing.
- A fifth of his amends must be added and given to the priest.
- The priest shall make atonement for his sin and his sin shall be forgiven.
If a man sins unknowingly he is still guilty for his sin:
- He must offer a ram without blemish for a trespass offering.
- He must pay a fine by shekels of silver to the priest.
- Priest shall make atonement for his ignorance in which he sinned and knew it not, and his sin shall be forgiven.
If a man lies or deceives his neighbor for his possessions:
- He that sinned must restore what he took or found of his neighbor.
- He must add a fifth part of what he took and give it to his neighbor the same day he offers his trespass offering.
- He must offer a ram without blemish for a trespass offering.
- He must pay a fine by shekels of silver to the priest.
- Priest shall make atonement for him and his sin shall be forgiven.
Trespass offering regulations:
- Trespass offering must be killed in the same place where they kill the burnt offerings.
- Blood of the offering must be sprinkled around the altar of burnt offerings.
- All the fat, the rump, the two kidneys, and the caul above the liver must be taken away.
- Priest must burn all of it on the altar of burnt offerings.
- Every male among the priest may eat of it.
- There is one law for both sin and trespass offering.
- The priest that makes atonement for the sin shall have the trespass offering.
